The bloodsucking vamps are a hot property right now, you can blame either the underwhelming (I thought) Twilight or the rather more adult True Blood, but new CW series Vampire Diaries is definitely feeling the popularity of the genre. The show which premiered September 10 brought in a massive 4.8 million viewers, thus making it the highest rated CW premiere in the stations history (albeit only 3 long years).
So vampire teens would seem to definitely be where it is at. One of the competing genre series to suffer a swift decline in viewers was Supernatural which dropped 18% when compared to last years figures (but there were also other big events on other channels, so who knows). Either way The CW is doing great with its teen spook drama.
