V skywriting promotion canceled

ABC has pulled the plug on its planned skywriting promotional campaign for V. There had been talk of plans to use skywriting that placed giant red “V” shapes over 26 famous US landmarks. This was thought of as mimicking the spacecrafts in the show that appear over all the worlds famous landmarks. Apparently all the pollution the giant V letters would cause was too much for ABC and Disney.

Essentially it sounds like they didn’t want the negative PR associated with the pollution generated by the promotion, given Disney have carbon emission issues high on its agenda at present. It will be interesting to see what ABC comes up with in place of such a massive promotion. Here’s hoping it’s something cool and not a let down.
