Tyne Daly as Patrick Dempsey’s Mom!

It is so great to see Cagney and Lacey still ripping it up on TV. For two women who truly kicked ass in their hey-day, Tyne Daly and Sharon Gless are still doing pretty good as far as TV roles go.

Daly has just been cast in what could be a great role – as McDreamy’s mom on Grey’s Anatomy. Yes, that’s right, she’ll be playing Derek’s mom (played by Patrick Dempsey) and she’ll be traveling to Seattle to meet Meredith for the first time.

This just seems like excellent casting to me. She is perfect for the role and will no doubt make it her own. She’s a class act and it’ll be great seeing her in another popular show. Here’s hoping the character sticks around. Don’t forget you can also catch Sharon Gless in Burn Notice.
