Bad boy Jonathan Rhys Meyers is set to once more take up the role of King Henry VIII in Showtime’s hit series The Tudors, when the series returns to Showtime March 30. Season one of The Tudors proved popular among fans and even garnered a Golden Globe nomination for Best Drama Series.
The show follows a ‘tweaked’ historical look at the reign and marriages of King Henry VIII. It’s come under fire for it’s changing of historical fact for dramatic affect, but still managed good ratings. As well as Jonathan Rhys Meyers starring as the King, the series also stars Natalie Domer as Anne Boleyn, Jeremy Northam as Sir Thomas More and Sam Neill as Cardinal Thomas Wolsey. Veteran actor Peter O’Toole is set to play Pope Paul III when the series returns in March.
