True Blood ratings debut

True Blood Pilot

So after all the online viral marketing, the YouTube clips, the websites and the fan forums, True Blood finally made it’s debut on HBO to a relatively acceptable number.

The vampiric drama received 1.4 million viewers in its initial Sunday broadcast, with a further 700,000 tuning in at the 10.30 rebroadcast – a total of 2.1 million. Now, although the figures might not seem too good, it’s actually a fairly reasonable number of viewers, especially since it’s debuting against NBC’s Sunday Night Football that pulls in around 18.5 million viewers.

So far it looks like it’s a good start to the series about vampires integrating in society and no doubt the figures will continue to rise over the coming months. Let’s hope that all the pre-show hoopla was worth it as it looks like it’s well made and features enough drama to keep it ticking over happily for a while. Did any of you catch it and what did you think?

great show. good characters and good writing. best is a long time. Its not goint to be the household blockbuster like American Idol but then it has more clever taste than that. Still will appeal enough to survive awhile in the $.
