Not sure if this is related to our recent Simon Cowell post regarding this topic, but it seems Top Of The Pops may be the little UK show that simply won’t die. There are new rumors from the BBC that the show may be reinstated as early as next year due to popular demand.
The show has been running for decades in a variety of guises, but was axed in July 2006 when figures for the show simply weren’t good enough. At that time it was being shown on BBC Two and was pulling in only around 1 million viewers.
Apparently if it does return, it’ll be back with an entirely new format to try and keep it interesting. It’ll also be seen as a ‘public service’ rather than an ‘entertainment show’…. Err… what? Okay, well whatever happens, it would be nice to have it back – assuming it’s any good.
