The Graysons – Dick Grayson before he was Robin a replacement for Smallville?

The CW has greenlit a pilot about Dick Grayson, he’s better known as Batman’s masked sidekick ‘Robin’. The show will follow Dick Grayson prior to him becoming Robin, back when his parents and he worked in the circus (and we assume got into all sorts of pre-superhero shenanigans).

Given the folks behind it are producers from Smallville and Supernatural, this has replacement written all over it. Smallville is pretty much reaching its end (though nothing official has been stated) and another pre-superhero teen flick might just be the perfect replacement for it. Shame it couldn’t have revolved around a female pre-superhero this time though, but let’s face it, Birds of Prey bombed and now people don’t want to go there (personally I loved Birds of Prey!).

So looks like it will be The Graysons we’re all watching next year, which will probably morph into Robin the boy wonder, swiftly followed by Nightwing.
