The Footy Show – In trouble again

 The Footy Show

Never a week goes past in Australia when top rated bloke show ‘The Footy Show’ isn’t causing some kind of controversy.

Just a few months ago, the show was in hot water over its treatment of women and of course the producers then did the mandatory ‘token’ woman on the show for some time to quell the furore that was brewing. Now, it looks like the disabled are the target for the show with Australian news reporting on the some rather distasteful segments that seem to ridicule a disabled man.

Host of the show, Paul Vautin, has had to publicly come out and apologise for ridiculing a Caxton Hotel bouncer named Greg Stacey. Vautin touts Stacey as a drunk, when in actual fact he suffers from a condition known as benign epilepsy. Of course, Stacey is now considering suing (who isn’t these days) and it looks like The Footy Show will continue to be an embarrassment to men and Channel 9. Cheap laughs and insults seem to be the order of the day over there, lets hope they can save what is essentially a good show, by removing the unnecessary ribbing of certain members of society.
