The Dead Zone cancelled

Gee I feel like the bearer of bad sci-fi related news today, sorry about that folks. Along with the sci-fi series The 4400, USA Network has also cancelled The Dead Zone starring Anthony Micheal Hall (the Breakfast Club geek that turned into a not so geeky man) and Nicole de Boer, better known to sci-fi fans as Ezri Dax in Star Trek Deep Space Nine.
The Dead Zone involves the story of Johnny Smith, a man involved in a near fatal car accident that leaves him in a coma for 6 years. On waking Johnny discovers his life has changed in many ways, including some psychic powers that allow him information about anyone he touches.
The series was based on the book of the same title by horror great Stephen King.

I want to let the USA network know that they are making a big mistake cancelling “The dead Zone”. You cannot leave all of us loyal fans hanging without knowing if Johnny and Sarah would have ever gotten back together. What about Stillson? Does he cause armagetton? What was Walt working on when he was killed? How about Johnny’s dad? Please you have to let us know what would have happened!!! I love Anthony Michael Hall (Johnny Smith). I will miss him greatly.

What the heck why would they cancell the Dead Zone? Now I feel like all the questions that they left to be answered will never be. If they wanted to cancell the show at least run it another season to tie up all the loose ends and answer all the questions

I think the networks should be required to promise fans a series end if it gets past the first season. Time after time I hear the same gripes , why don’t they let us have a finished story line if we put so many hours of our lives into their advertised hyped out of their mids series , becoming addicted to the story line and then they just laugh and walk away with out a care . who is up to change this ? The dead zone demands , after six seasons at least a made for tv two hour finale episode to tie it up . That would have to attract more fans then the many bombs , made for tv junk movies I see and they expect people to watch . ????

I can not believe that USA network would cancel such a great show as “Dead Zone”. That just goes to show that USA network does not care about the people who watches their shows.
March 16th, 2008 at 12:18 pm
And the networks do not understand why viewership is declining? The Nine, Jerico (brought back by popular demand), Six Degrees – all lasted until the networks figured out that they would not be another Lost.
So now USA takes the real prize by cancelling for real stupid reasons….to give new shows a chance. Well, I am now wary of any new show because if I get into it, it may be cancelled without warning. Even MASH was ended and it had no continuing plot.

I too, can’t believe they would cancell the show without letting us know how it ends. But then again all the networks do it. If the congress can waste so much time and tax payer money on baseball nonsence, why not waste a little more money and pass a law requiring networks to run an ending to shows that last more then one year.

I am just so mad that The Dead Zone was canceled! They just left everyone hanging, along the The 4400….

I will not watch the USA network, ever again!
Personally I don’t follow many series because I don’t like to get addicted to them and have to wait each week. The only other ones I really keep track is 24, Alias, Lost, Boston Legal. There are many other great shows out there I’d like to watch but I don’t.
So for the last 5~6 years I’ve been following The 4400 and The dead zone very very closely, even when I was overseas for 2 years!
How the hell can they just say “can it” and it’s cancelled when it went 6 seasons(4 with the 4400)?
Just like b robertson said above, it’s now very hard to start watching anything, I hate getting stuck with a non ending series. I can understand the 4400 still needs a couple seasons to finish, and pulling the plug would benefit them financially, after all, they’re in the business to make money. But to just pull the plug on the Dead Zone, just plain STUPID! All they need is maybe 2 eps to finish the series.
Look at Alias, they didn’t go the last couple seasons, and they knew it, but at least they just finished it with a shity season, yes, AT LEAST THEY FINISHED IT! Why can’t USA Network?
Do they understand that when you have an unfinished series, people are less likely to buy their season collection set?
Next on the agenda, I’m gonna get that stupid Writers Guild of America union!

Why in the world would they take such a great show off the air. There is so much garbage on TV now, we do nto have that many great show left. Big mistake

I cannot believe that one of the best programs on TV is being cancelled before the story line is completed. I must admit, I was slow to start watching The Dead Zone, but by Season 2, I was hooked. Please reconsider and extend series by at least one more season. In the movie, Tilson is driven out of contention for President by exposing him as a coward, but I’m sure the TV version could have been more creative and thoughtful. Finish what you started!!!!

I agree with Bill S – Learn to finish what you start! If u can give sth 6 yrs, surely u owe the fans to finish the show with some shred of dignity. And I’m getting sooo tired of asking for favours – a decent ending should be a given for a show like this, why do fans even have to cry out for it? It’s a disgrace.

LET THE SCI-FI CHANNEL TAKE OVER.SCREW USA NETWORK.
THEY DONT KNOW HOW TO RUN SHOWS ANYWAYS.

This just shows that corporate decisions are not made by substance and talented acting. It’s the money! The Sci-Fi Channel dumps two quality written and acted shows “The Dead Zone” and “The 4400″ and yet still produces many other crapy sci-fi specials that I would never watch if paid too. Both TDZ and The 4400 were expensive shows to make, so screw the dedicated fans, will produce cheap low budget specials and load it up with commercials every 5 minutes to make a profit. And encorporate other shows and rerun them, Dark Angel, FarScape, Firefly, John Doe, and fill them with more loads of commericals. You’ve seriously lost a fan here!

Please give the Dead Zone an ending. We watched the show for 6 years…

The DeadZone was a amazing show. What in the world was the powers to be at USA Networks thinking? There is nothing left good to watch on it. Atleast give us 1 more show to GIVE US FANS A PROPER ENDING!
January 16th, 2009 at 1:24 am
This is the biggest BS. This was such a good show. What happened to the days when a long running show would at least have a quick ‘what happened to everyone’ ending? USA should at least give a final episode.
January 20th, 2009 at 2:21 am
if usa doesnt start ending there stories of the shows we love then people are going to stop watching your channel…at least end the story line like “lipstick jungle” did…give an ending to the 4400 hundred (loved it) give and ending to “the dead zone” why watch tv if you arent going to end the stories

He Richard Z…
It wasn’t the Sci-Fi Network that dropped the Dead Zone and the 4400. IT WAS USA Network.
People believe that the Sci-Fi channel should pick them up and finish them correctly….I’m all for it.

My two cents:
I will miss this show. It was one of my favorites, and I’ve tivo’d every episode, and I still have the timer in hopes that I’ll find an old one that I missed, but it’s been a long time since I have.
If I had my way, the network would bring it back as a series or a movie finale. Don’t leave us hanging!
Sincerly,
Waaagh!

I didnt even realize that these shows were cancelled officially until I did a search for it (Dead Zone and 4400) and also The Riches. I had been waiting patiently, a little too patiently I see now….Yes, we need an ending! We loyal followers deserve it!! Even a 2 hour movie!!
July 25th, 2010 at 3:31 pm
I just saw the final episode and feel really bad. The last two seasons were a huge waste of time, precious time writers should have spent giving the story a proper ending.
And no, I don’t blame the writers. All I’m saying is that it was stupid of USA network to ruin the show by not limiting the number of seasons at some point, and then cancel it because, well, it was ruined.
So they created the problem and refused to solve it right. Way to go, TV gurus!!

I just watched the dvds what a waste that we did not get an ending.
Maybe Anthony Hall could write a book at least?

GARRR!!!! I just finished watching the last episode of season 6 and then i find out that the bloody americans (just kidding, we love you america[even if australia is better]) cancelled the show! I mean seriously, i thought the ending of season 3 was a cliffhanger-with Johnny collapced and everything, but then i watch season 6……. they’re never gonna bring it back, are they……
August 1st, 2011 at 11:41 pm
They should absolutely bring the show back!! don’t like to be left hanging in the dark. Love the actors!!! What ever happened to Stillson? Need an ending
December 31st, 2011 at 4:30 am
Just rewatched every ep. Man, it sucks that they won’t make a season 7 or a movie to end all this, it’s like I watched all that, and nothing…or the good stuff is not being shown…
