Sometimes you have to wonder who is in charge at SyFy. The last two years have been somewhat of a debacle for the network, which is seemingly moving further away from what was its core fan base, the science fiction fan. TV Guru Australia has an interesting rant write-up discussing the genre move and it seems to mirror many of the other thoughts of fans on the varying social networks.
The issue stems from the apparent lies SyFy try and spin, rather than just being straight with its viewers. On Friday last week Craig Engler, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Syfy Digital, said “Although we don’t have a commitment beyond 6 episodes for the 6th season, we’re hopeful this will not be the end of the franchise”. Then this yesterday: “After painstaking consideration, we have had to make the difficult business decision to not order a season six of Eureka”.
