If the name sounds familiar, but you can’t quite place it, Summer is probably best known to sci fi fans as the character of River in the cult hit series Firefly, a role she reprised for the big screen movie Serenity. Ahh now you’re with me. Well Summer has been talking up her role as the teenage terminator, or should that be terminatrix.. in The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Glau was interviewed by Access Hollywood and has some interesting insights into the series. She also stated in the interview “I had in my mind what I thought they would want for a girl terminator and I definitely didn’t think that I fit that criteria and so I didn’t want to go on the audition,” yeah, we can see how that wouldn’t work, given the character of River was a bit of a gun toting lunatic with incredible athleticism and stamina.. why there’s really no common ground there at all. We learn that Glau’s terminator will be John Connors bodyguard in the series.
Down in our estimations a little, Glau also stated she hadn’t seen any of the Terminator films prior to her getting the callback for the show. Pah! Come on, who hasn’t seen at least one of them. Now if I can just get my head around Lena Headey being cast as Sarah Connor, maybe the sharp pain at the base of my brain will go away.
