So who watched the premiere of Longmire?

longmire review thoughts

TV PR people love throwing around certain phrases they believe encapsulate a series, for A&E’s “Longmire” that phrase is ‘modern day western’. I figured though I find it cheesy I’d include it here because in this particular instance, it’s actually spot on.

“Longmire” stars Aussie actor Robert Taylor as Sheriff Walt Longmire, a slow talking Wyoming lawman in mourning. His ‘Scott Speedman’ style tone (that’s a deep whispering tone you need to strain to understand at times) gives every spoken line a sleepy charm. Co-starring with Taylor is “Battlestar Galactica” favorite Katee Sackoff as his deputy Vic Moretti, she doesn’t do much in episode one other than show she’s intuitive, but lacks grunt. Hopefully she won’t slide into the ‘female co-star only there for titillation and not much else’ role, Sackoff can kick ass, hopefully we’ll see that side.

Overall “Longmire” was a good premiere, though arduous at times with its less than swift pacing, definitely one to at least check out. Did you watch the premiere? What did you think?
