This is a sad one for sports fans in the UK. The recent troubles of Setanta Sports has seen the channel go off the air in that region. Setanta Sports news had the chance to say their farewells. They thanked the hundreds of thousands of people who had emailed or texted the show over the last 22 months or so.
Setanta was placed in the hands of administrators and the channel ceased broadcasting today, June 23 2009. This is a sad day for all those sports fans who watched matches only Setanta was providing. Setanta’s other regions are thus far not affected by the administration. In addition to this Setanta lost all rights to the Scottish Premier League as of June 22, 2009, due to the 3 million pounds they had allegedly failed to pay the Scottish Premier League.
