Let me start this post by saying the Sci Fi Channel is bugging me at the moment. As one of its targeted demographic I feel irritated that the channel seems to be embarrassed by what it is meant to be, thus that ridiculous name change to “SyFy” that will be happening later this year. It’s of no great surprise then that the “SyFy” Channel would want a big “mainstream” name for one of their new series and it appears that name is Will Smith.
Smith and Overlook Entertainment are behind the show “Unfinished Business” which centers on an ex-cop who starts seeing the memories of the recently departed. Hmm does this sound like Tru-Calling just a little bit to anyone else? The show will be a two-hour TV movie that will – ratings dependent – act as a pilot to a full series. There’s no word on a cast at present and at least it’s a little Sci Fi I guess, hell it’s not like Will Smith hasn’t done a few Sci Fi genre films I suppose.
