This seems totally bizarre given The Gates recent cancelation. ABC are reportedly in talks to bring back an already failed TV pilot, that of Practical Magic based on the 1998 film of the same name. The movie starred Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. The failed pilot of a 2003 series for CBS starred Jeri Ryan and Kim Delaney.
It seems the horror / supernatural genre is still live and kicking doesn’t it? If Practical Magic actually conjures up some air time it will probably appear on ABC Family. There’s no word on any casting yet, though one can no doubt pin in a couple of 30 something hot actresses for the roles. Here’s hoping it’s better than The Witches of Eastwick spinoff eh?

Practical Magic (the movie) could never have been classified as horror IMO. Supernatural? Yes. I believe that this show could really take off if well done considering the tremendous impact and popularity the Practical Magic movie enjoyed. The producers would be best served by finding a real practitioner of witchcraft to act as adviser to add authenticity to the show.
