Persons Unknown season finale thoughts

Persons Unknown finale thoughts review

Be aware this post will cover plot points from the season finale of Persons Unknown, so if you haven’t seen it, there will be spoilers. Now let’s get to it, part one of the Persons Unknown finale was actually really good, it was gripping, with some WTF moments, even if there were more than a few plot holes. Then part two begins and there’s even more WTF moments.

Firstly, how did our people all find themselves in different places, given they were all tumbled in the van together. Janet escapes and walks straight to her moms house and there’s no one there to pick her up? Does The Mansfield Institute share office space with Global Dynamic? The addition of silly villains with long white hair and eye patches somewhat made things seem less believable if that’s possible. It’s like the second half of the finale went from TV show to James Bond plot cliche all in the space of 45 minutes. The bad news, that’s it, given the ratings the chance of Persons Unknown returning to answer all the questions it left is almost zero. Bummer.

More after the jump:

The first part of the season finale (series finale?) “And Then There Was One,” was in some ways almost TV genius, there was a major plot twist and some clever camera work (Levarage style) and despite the plot holes (did no one check they were all dead being one of the largest), this was very entertaining. The second part though left a lot to be desired, despite the nice twist at the end.

The second part “Shadows in the Cave,” picks up after the crash of the previous episode (crash really, why not just.. threaten the guy and get him to pull over? shish). Janet who has become fairly wily with regards to Nina Sharp… err.. Madam Director and her evil megacorp, yet she still manages to play right into their hands. Seriously Janet, you’d think you’d be a little smarter than that. Another annoyance, does The Mansfield Institute have cameras EVERYwhere, highly unlikely and rather silly. The scene with Janet telling Joe her kid is a bit of a demon who likes to manipulate other people, where the hell did that come from exactly? Sounds like a great kid. These are just some of the annoyances this had, having said that though, the very end added in a nice twist and perhaps some answers. Did reaching level 2 mean they were actually suited to the program, having made it through without killing one another? I guess we’ll never know.
