Nigel Lythgoe leaves American Idol

The adorable Nigel Lythgoe who we all know best as the face of So You Think You Can Dance, has decided that he’s just not passionate anymore about American Idol.

Nige has been a producer on the show for seven season, but is leaving his role as executive producer behind to concentrate more on So You Think You Can Dance, which has just been picked up for a 5th season at FOX.

Behind the scenes, ‘sources’ close to him are stating he’s just lost his love for American Idol, which although still a big hit in the ratings, has lost viewers over the last few years. Maybe it’s time the show had a revamp to spice it up a little, or maybe Nigel just loves hanging out with Cat and Mary so much he’s happy to spend more time there.
