Michael Gross joins The Young & the Restless
Yes Alex Keaton’s dad is joining The Young and the Restless as River Baldwin, father of Michael. Sounds like River Baldwin won’t be winning any dad of the year awards on the show though given his off-screen history. He’s a bit of a dead beat dad and coward.
I have to say I loved Family Ties, but to me Michael Gross will always be best remembered as Burt Gummer in the Tremors movies. That character was awesome and so far removed from Steven Keaton in Family Ties it was insane.
Michael Gross has had a steady career post Family Ties with guest appearances on loads of TV series including: Medium, ER, CSI:NY, Boston Legal, How I Met Your Mother and a shed load more. Look for him in The Young and the Restless from August 15 (US).

I’m on the fence with this casting. I like the idea of Michael having a dad but not so much the famous Family Ties dad - since Micheal’s dad isn’t supposed to be all that likable.
