Ahh, the realities of being a reality TV judge. It seems that although the shows continue on, the judges don’t.
Paul Mercurio has been booted from the Channel 7 show Dancing with the Stars where he has served as a judge for some time. He has stated he’s ‘disappointed’ to find that he’d been booted from the judging panel less than two weeks before it starts its eighth season on Australian screens.
No real reason seems to have been provided for his departure (at time of writing), but it’s apparently to take focus off the fact that Todd McKenney may be missing due to his drug arrests earlier this year (yeah, taking out another judge.. that’ll work!). Although Mercurio has gone from Dancing with the Stars, he’ll still take part in his own Channel 7 show ‘Mercurio’s Menu’, which has been renewed for a second season.
If he looks familiar to non Aussies, cast your minds back to a little Australian film called Strictly Ballroom and the hot young dancer ‘Scott’… yes that’s him. Oh and if you haven’t seen Strictly Ballroom.. go buy it.
