Masi Oka Global Ambassador

Everyone’s favorite Hero (ok perhaps not everyone perse, but a whole lot!) Masi Oka aka Hiro Nakamura is being a bit of a hero off camera. Oka has just been given the title ‘Global Ambassador’ for his work with the One Laptop Per Child program. The program is a US based non profit organization that oversee the construction of the $100 laptop for children in developing nations.

Masi Oka plays Hiro Nakamura on the TV series Heroes. Hiro has the ability to stop time, teleport and travel through time. Masi Oka is no stranger to special abilities, the actor appeared on the cover of Time Magazine at the age of twelve in relation to a piece on ‘Asian-American Whizz Kids’. Oka received his Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and mathematics in 1997 and went on to work within ILM, George Lucas’s special effects company. His IQ is rated at around 180.
