Jada Pinkett Smith’s new TV drama HawthoRNe panned

Jada Pinkett Smith Hawthorne Nurse

Despite having a fairly compelling cast, new TNT hospital drama Hawthorne has failed to set the critics alight. The series revolves around Jada Pinkett Smith’s character Christina Hawthorne, a gutsy nurse and mother working at Richmond Trinity Hospital in Charlotte, N.C. Critics have panned the series calling it “a tedious, cliché-filled mess”.

The promos for the show feature a cool and familiar television cast. There’s the formidable Jada Pinkett Smith in the lead role, with support from Michael Vartan (of Alias fame), Joanna Cassidy and Christina Moore to name but a few. The show seems gritty enough, but the general consensus on this one appears to be that it all feels very cliché. A shame for Pinkett Smith who generally brings an unbridled energy to the screen in whatever she’s involved with.

  • Hello,

I really love this show, and hate that it was only on for a few weeks. This is a very good show and it needs to be aired regularly. How soon will the show be coming back on? I hope it’s not true that will not be back on until next summer. We made this a family night show, and now we feel lost on Tuesday night because there is no more HawthoRNe. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE put this show back on very, very, soon.
    Thanks,
    Nettie
