Is some children’s TV creepy?

A recent visit to a doctors surgery saw me stuck in the waiting room watching children’s television. It has to be said this was not a pleasant experience. All the little ones in the room were mesmerized, as was I, though I am sure for different reasons. The show in question was In the Night Garden and featured what can only be described as a drug induced cast of colorful, sped up characters making odd noises and squeaks. Do shows like this teach young children anything of use? I’m not advocating 5 year olds watch the 6pm news, but the very nature of the show was quite odd and kind of creepy. Have you seen any children’s TV shows and thought WTF?
