The nominations for the 2008 Golden Globes are in and there’s not a whole lot of shock within. The usual contenders are there, along with a few fresh faces.
The main ones you’re probably all interested in are the big ones, so let’s take a look at them.
Best Drama Series: Big Love, Damages, Grey’s Anatomy, House, Mad Men and The Tudors.
Best Comedy Series: 30 Rock, Californication, Entourage (that’s a comedy?!), Extras and Pushing Daisies.
Best Actor (Drama): Big Love – Bill Paxton, Michael C. Hall – Dexter, Hugh Laurie – House, Jon Hamm – Mad Men and finally Jonathan Rhys Meyers – The Tudors.
Best Actress Drama: Brothers and Sisters – Sally Field, The Closer – Kyra Sedgwick, Damages – Glenn Close, Medium – Patricia Arquette, The Riches – Minnie Driver, Saving Grace – Holly Hunter and of course The Sopranos – Edie Falco.
It’s a strange one isn’t it that the Golden Globes and other award institutes never take science fiction shows seriously. I watch most of those shows listed and I have to say I enjoy the drama of Battlestar Galactica far more than any of them. It would be nice just one to have a sci-fi series taken seriously.
