Dennis Leary has a job for a little longer. FX has renewed Rescue Me for a sixth season with a total of 18 episodes. There’s no filming date yet for season six, but season five kicks off on April 7 at 10pm.
The show has been one of FX’s top-rated series for a while and is getting good viewing numbers, especially in the 18-49 year old bracket so it makes sense that it would be picked up. Season five has been delayed due to the writer’s strike, but will be showing a full 22 episodes.
To get attention for himself and the show, Leary will be doing a national comedy tour of 11 cities throughout the next few months. The tour will also feature Lenny Clarke and Adam Ferrara, both of whom star on the show with him.
