For those outside the United States I thought I’d highlight a fairly new series that you should keep an eye out for. Screening in the US from January 9, Cashmere Mafia follows the lives of four female friends. The women are career women and members of ‘The Cashmere Mafia” a name they give their club, sort of like one of those ‘boys clubs’ where they meet and discuss dilemmas and other issues in their busy lives.
The cast of Cashmere Mafia includes Lucy Liu as Mia Mason, Aussie actress Frances O’Connor as Zoe Burden, Miranda Otto as Juliet Draper and Bonnie Somerville as Caitlin Dowd.
Reviews are failry mixed at present, but remember it’s only a show or two in. If this is done right it could be really interesting. Although female heavy series don’t come along often, when they do they can be a huge smash if handled correctly. Here’s hoping Cashmere Mafia doesn’t shoot itself in the foot.
