Bye bye Alice horton those were the days of your life

Days of Our Lives actor Frances Reid has died at the age of 95. Reid played Days of Our Lives matriarch Alice Horton for more than 40 years. She started out on the show on its first episode way back in 1965 and was long known for being the loving and steadfast grandmother of the series.

Born in 1914 in Wichita Falls, Texas, Reid trained to act at the PAsadena Playhouse and made her way to Broadway, appearing in over a dozen shows during the 1930′s and 1940′s. That is an amazing career and when you look into it, an amazing woman. NBC had the following to say on news of her passing:

“NBC is deeply saddened by the passing of Frances Reid. She was a true icon of the daytime genre and while we mourn her passing, we also celebrate her long life and the tremendous talent she shared with her generations of fans. She will be sorely missed.”
