Quirky ABC show Boston Legal will definitely be returning for its fifth season next fall.
The show has recently been in its own legal tug-of-war between David E Kelley Productions and ABC. The actual issue seems to be that ABC wanted to push ahead with ‘Life on Mars’, a show that Kelley owns the rights to in the US. Kelley then let ABD now he was planning to leave ‘Life on Mars’ but only at the right negotiation costs.
This of course meant that it was now open for Kelley to demand that Boston Legal stay on our screens for at least another year. So essentially, Kelley is dealing the cards and giving himself all the aces.
Looks like his darling Boston Legal will continue on for another season and Life on Mars will be officially ordered to series soon. Not bad when you have the ABC eating out of your hands.
