Anna Coren On the Move?

It seems that Channel 7 Australia don’t need the services of ever-present Anna Coren for much longer.

Coren has been given the go ahead to leave Today Tonight should she land the role she’s after with CNN in Atlanta. She completed a screen test for them in July and she’s in negotiations at the moment with Channel 7 over her contract. It looks like the current affairs boss at Seven, Peter Meakin is prepared to let her go.

She’s been looking for an overseas position for some time and sadly Channel 7 just don’t have that many available so it looks like she’ll be heading to CNN. She was previously based in Seven’s Los Angeles bureau, but was called in to host Today Tonight in 2006 when Naomi Robson quit. Although she’s been a good ratings winner for the show, there are plenty of people waiting to step up into her seat. It’ll be interesting to see how this goes and as soon as there’s any definite news, we’ll make sure you know about it. Oh and we’ll try not to sensationalise it to death, like Anna’s writers for Today Tonight generally seem to do.
