It seems like viewers have finally caught on to the Ricky Gervais / Stephen Merchant show “An Idiot Abroad”. The second season premiere episode managed to double the ratings of the first season opener. Gervais stated: “It’s fantastic news. I won’t be satisfied until Karl is as big a phenomenon as Justin Bieber,” said Gervais. “I just hope it doesn’t all rest on hair”.
Karl is of course Karl Pilkington, the unfortunate ‘Idiot’ in the title of the show. Gervais and Merchant send Pilkington to various places around the world, to get an everyday view of the place and it’s people. Usually they set up at least one awful tourist experience for Karl to navigate, cue laughs.
