Well it finally aired here in Australia with a double episode and I have to say it was fun to see old faces and new, bitching it up in the 90210 postcode. Seeing Brenda and Kelly back together talking about Brandon was a lot of fun, it’s just a shame some younger viewers didn’t have that excitement added into their viewing experience, as I found out this morning when discussing it with a young family member.
So what was wrong with it, well a group of friends and I watched the pilot to the old “Beverly Hils 90210″ prior to watching the new “90210″ and the similarities were there in droves, to the point where it would have probably been better had we not done so. The girls that feature are all WAY too skinny, including the moms. my goodness when two of them turned side on I lost sight of them! Front on too it wasn’t much better, if this is now the Hollywood standard, it’s a little 6 year old girl creepy, but that’s just my opinion.
Right with it… it had just the right amount of fun characters, bitching and back story to ensure I’ll be watching it again next week, so they clearly did something right. Getting in some of the old cast was sheer genius as the buzz of having them on screen again is just fantastic, we almost fell off our seats when old Nat was still serving coffee in the Peach Pit! That guy is 71 years old now, and how fantastic they dropped him in there.
All up a pretty good, shallow, bitchy, teen series with promise, but mostly great for an older viewer for all those familiar faces.
