Zack Galifianakis in Talks for “R.I.P.D”

Zach Galifianakis certainly has the facial hair for a character from the 1800s, the Century of the Beard.

What’s next for Zach Galifianakis between the release of “The Hangover II” and making “The Hangover III?” (don’t rule it out) Well, according to The Hollywood Reporter, he is getting close to joining the cast of “R.I.P.D.” Ryan Reynolds is starring and Robert Schwentke is directing.

“R.I.P.D” is based on the comic from Dark Horse. It’s about “R.I.P.D. “a murdered cop (Reynolds) who is recruited to work in the Rest in Peace Department, a police force comprised of ghosts who battle spirits unready to depart this world.” Galifianakis would play Reynolds’ partner, “a wise-cracking officer who’s been hunting spirits since the 1800s.” Wow! I didn’t know there was wise-cracking in the 1800s! I thought that was invented with talking pictures!

As noted, Galifianakis’s big event is the release of “The Hangover II,” which hits theaters on May 26th. I guess this would be Galifianakis’s first venture into the action realm? Just looked at IMDb, and yes, it seems so. Well, if he’s playing a 19th century character, I hope he gets to wear a dashing, yet uncomfortable suit.
