Zac Efron Will Ask “Are We Officially Dating?”

By Kirsten Anderson Casting

Zac Efron will have love troubles.

You’re going to be seeing a lot of Zac Efron in the next year or so. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Efron will star in the romantic comedy “Are We Officially Dating Yet?” Tom Gormican is directing his own script, which was highly ranked on the 2010 Black List.

The film is about “three friends in New York City who make a pact to remain single just as each starts to fall in love.” Uh oh, there’s trouble! Justin Nappi of Treehouse Pictures, one of the many producers, had this to say:

Are We Officially Dating? is a story about timing and your 20s and just how difficult it can be. We’re thrilled to be teaming with Tom Gormican on his relatable script, which will resonate with a large audience.”

Efron is currently in Venice with his race car drama “At Any Price.” “The Paperboy,” which premiered at Cannes is still making the festival rounds, and “Liberal Arts,” which premiered at Sundance last winter, is out this fall. So Zac is trying to mix up indies with studio films, like last spring’s profitable romance “The Lucky One” last spring. He also has “This Is Where I Leave You” and “Townies” in pre-production. Early response to “At Any Price” seems to be good, so maybe Efron will be able to escape the trap of pretty boy looks.
