Writing Duo Ready To Pen ‘Goosebumps’ Movie Adaptation

Goosebumps is a children’s horror series (strange combination I know) of stories by R.L. Stine. There have so far been 50 books in the series, and sales have been incredibly healthy. In fact, it is only beaten by Harry Potter as the highest-grossing book series for publisher Scholastic.

So with that level of success, it seems obvious to diversify a little. Hence the new big-screen adaptation of the series, as well as a video game being made. Neal Moritz is producing the movie, and the writing duo of Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander are currently in negotiations to pen the screenplay.

The Hollywood Reporter
informs that Karaszewski and Alexander are best known for Ed Wood, Man on the Moon, and The People vs. Larry Flynt. With those kinds of credits under their belts, the Goosebumps movie should be a walk in the park.

The Goosebumps series has already seen some straight-to-video versions made, but this will be the first feature film. Moritz claims he will likely cast unknown youngsters for the lead roles and then include well-known actors in supporting roles in much the same way the Harry Potter itself was set up.
