Woody Harrelson Joins ‘2012’ Cast – Armageddon Must Be Upon Us

Woody Harrelson In 2012

Roland Emmerich’s new project, an apocalyptic look at the end of the world… happening in four years time apparently, has been getting a mixed early reception so far. Some love the idea, while others think the whole thing is a preposterous plot for a film, and the movie is going to be a huge flop.

The latter option, of it being a flop, may have just taken the lead in the odds, as MTV Movies has revealed that Woody Harrelson has joined the cast of 2012. Here is an actor more wooden than Nicholas Cage, and yet he is being given a major role in a film already being ridiculed in some quarters before it even starts shooting.

I know some of you will think this is all a bit harsh, and may even be fans of Woody ‘Wooden’ Harrelson, so just for you, here is what he had to say about the prospect of making the movie.

“I don’t know why they thought of me. But I like the idea.”

“I play a guy who’s been talking for a long time, the whole world thinks he’s crazy. But he’s been talking that there’s gonna be hell to pay for what’s been going on ecologically and everything.”

Yeah, whatever. For those uninitiated on the film’s premise, it basically takes the ancient Mayan civilisation’s prediction that the world will end on December 21st, 2012, and runs with it… in to the realms of make-believe. It’s basically an excuse to show the world blowing up, with floods, earthquakes, and all kinds of crazy shit going on.

The film also stars John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Danny Glover, Thandie Newton, Oliver Platt, Thomas McCarthy and Chin Han. Production is set to begin shortly in Vancouver, and 2012 is set to be released in 2009. Surely three years too early?
