Witherspoon and Reynolds Have ‘Big Eyes’

Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski have had a project in mind for many years; to tell the story of Margaret and Walter Keane, a married couple responsible for the some of the first mass-marketed artworks in the 1950s and 1960s.

Alexander and Karaszewski are best known for penning Man on The Moon and Ed Wood, biopics which found strong-yet-small audiences. They’re now turning their hands to directing as well, with Deadline reporting Big Eyes will start shooting this Spring.

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Reynolds will play the lead characters of Margaret and Walter Keane. These two became famous for their paintings showing people with big eyes, hence the title of the film. When they split it was revealed in court that it was Margaret rather than Walter who produced the artwork. Walter was all about the marketing, despite claiming otherwise.

Shooting on Big Eyes is expected to start in the spring, with Tim Burton producing. This film has come close to being made before, with Kate Hudson and Thomas Haden Church attached in 2008. Let’s hope it actually happens this time around.
