The Winona comeback tour continues.
No, you didn’t just stumble into a piece of TV news, we’re still all about movies here. So we don’t mean “Homefront” the HBO show, but “Homefront,” an action movie starring James Franco and Jason Statham. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Winona Ryder is in cast to join the cast.
The movie is based on a book by Chuck Logan about “an ex-DEA agent (Statham) who moves to a small town in the hope of a quiet life but runs afoul of a villainous meth kingpin named Gator (Franco).” Sylvester Stallone wrote the script and Gary Fleder will direct.
Ryder would play a “former biker chick” partnered with Franco. Please tell me her character is named “Alli.”
After seemingly almost out of the business for the first part of the 2000s, Ryder has been making something of a comeback, with roles in “Black Swan” and “The Dilemma.” She recently finished filming “Iceman” with Chris Evans and Michael Shannon and also did voice work for “Frankenweenie.” She should try to get on a good cable show.
Filming is supposed to begin in September in New Orleans.
