Last week we heard that George Lucas gave Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher the early inside word about an upcoming group of new Star Wars movies. So that’s nice for Luke and Leia, but what about Han Solo?
Well, there haven’t been any reports about secret meetings between Lucas and Harrison Ford, the great Han Solo (and my childhood crush…sigh). However, according to EW, Ford is interested in being part of the new movie. Their source says, “Harrison is open to the idea of doing the movie and he’s upbeat about it, all three of them are.”
Awww, that would be cute. Now I don’t think there’s anyway that the movie would be built around the trio of characters forty years later; I mean, I always say Hollywood should make more movies geared towards older audiences, but not scifi summer blockbusters. Would it be fun to see them do some smaller, cameo type parts, though? Absolutely.
Ford still seems to have a good relationship with Lucas, having just had a box office success (if not critical) a few years ago with “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” (which of course has given rise to ongoing rumors that there will be another Indiana Jones movie). He’s hardly been sitting around waiting for Lucas to give him work, though–Ford shot “Ender’s Game,” “42,” and “Paranoia” earlier this year and is also set to star in “You Belong to Me.” Will he even have time for a Han Solo cameo?!
