Who’s Bad? Kilmer, Xzibit Join Bad Lieutenant

Xzibit

Xzibit looks all business in his X-Files character. His next mission? I suggest keeping full frontal shots out of Herzog’s Bad Lieutenant.

Werner Herzog is apparently not remaking Abel Ferrara’s The Bad Lieutenant. Instead, it seems, he is “re-imagining” it. Does that mean he imagined it once and now is imagining it again? Has he ever actually seen it, or only imagined it. Whichever, he is rapidly adding cast members.

Variety reports that Val Kilmer and Xzibit are joining the film which already stars Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes. Kilmer will play corrupt cop Cage’s partner and Xzibit will be a bad guy named Big Fade (since the original movie was set in the ’80s, does this mean he wore his hair in a  fade?  If so, can we persuade Xzibit to recreate this?).

Kilmer was the youngest person ever admitted to Juilliard’s drama program, but has never lived up to that early promise. Part of it is being good looking enough to play leading men, but having more of a character edge to him. Another reason may be that I believe he’s had a reputation for being difficult. He seems to be in one of his “Hey, remember me?” phases right now. Kilmer just finished shooting Streets of Blood.

Xzibit has long been building a career outside of his rapper roots. He’s going to be on big screens this month in X-Files: I Want to Believe.
