US audiences liked “This Is It,” but worldwide audiences loooooooooved it.

“This Is It” finished a solid number one in the US, but worldwide it took in a more impressive $101 million. Unsurprisingly, Sony is extending the original two week run for another week.
“Paranormal Activity” could have made $5 this weekend and still be ridiculously profitable. So the $16 million and change as the film expanded is all just rainbow sprinkles on the “Paranormal” cupcake. “Law-Abiding Citizen” continues to be the solid “what else is there?” choice for undecided movie goers. And “Where the Wild Things Are,” one of the most talked about movies of the year, continues its quiet fade. It’s a cruel world.
