Jamie Bell goes to Lars von Trier land.
To balance out the Shia LaBeouf Factor in his next movie, “Nymphomaniac,” The Hollywood Reporter says that Lars von Trier has added Jamie Bell and Danish actress Connie Nielsen to the cast. Charlotte Gainsbourg and Stellan Skarsgard were already set to star along with LaBeouf.
Not familiar with my Shia LaBeouf Factor?” I mean I don’t think he’s good looking, I don’t think he’s charismatic, I don’t think he’s much more than a barely competent actor (plus lately he’s just talking way too much; don’t tell us that you’re a daring artist, be one). Since he doesn’t bring any of those qualities to a movie, other things have to be brought in to balance out his factor, like lots more really good actors. For example, Bell and Nielsen. Gainsbourg can’t do it all herself.
Here’s the synopsis:
Gainsbourg will star as Joe, a self-diagnosed nymphomaniac. Skarsgard will play Seligman, an old, charming bachelor who finds Joe beaten up in an alley. He takes her home to care for her and Joe recounts to him the story of her erotic life, from birth to the age of 50.
I have a feeling von Trier only thinks of women in terms of their sexuality. By the way, TMI LaBeouf recently claimed that the sex scenes in the movie will be real, something the producers quickly denied
The director will shoot “Nymphomaniac” as a two-part feature and plans to release the films in both hard-core and soft-core versions. Release is planned for 2013.
Filming is supposed to begin in Germany this week. Other cast members include Danish actors Nicolas Bro, Jesper Christensen and Jens Albinus, Sweden’s Shanti Roney, and German actor Severin von Hoensbroech. Von Trier alums Nicole Kidman and Willem Dafoe were rumored to have small parts in the movie, but that’s not been confirmed.
