Vincent Cassell Replaces Philip Seymour Hoffman In “Child 44,” Signs On For “Partisana”

Vincent Cassel is off to film "Child 44."

Deadline  reports that Vincent Cassell has taken over the role intended for Philip Seymour Hoffman in “Child 44.”  There’s no word on why Hoffman is out. Hopefully it’s nothing more than scheduling conflicts; he did just recently sign on to do a TV series.

“Child 44″ has been filming since June. It’s based on Tom Robb Smith’s novel about a military cop trying to investigate a series of child murders in Stalinist Russia. It’s the first of a trilogy (franchise!). Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, Gary Oldman, and Joel Kinnaman are in the cast, with Daniel Espinosa directing.

Cassel also was just cast in Ariel  Kleiman’s “Partisana.” He’ll play a commune leader who an 11 year old member of the group expects is up to no good.

All in all, Vincent Cassell is very busy. Look for him next in Christophe Gans’s “Beauty and the Beast.”
