‘Underworld’ TV Series Possible?

Underworld: Rise Of The Lycans is currently in theaters and doing rather well. I haven’t seen it yet but am hearing good things about it. Good things if what you like is Kate Beckinsale in a leather catsuit and werewolves fighting vampires. Yes, I like.
I loved the first Underworld, and the sequel, Underworld: Evolution, was even better. The movies are fun, gory, and perfect Saturday night viewing. In fact, the franchise could make for astounding television. I’m not the only one to think so either, with lots of fans expressing their desire to see Underworld move from the big to the small screen.
The man behind the series, Len Wiseman, also thinks the idea could have legs, telling Bloody Disgusting:
“There’s a lot of talk about a television series, I’m looking into that. If I could be very involved and can be a certain way, I’d be very interested in that. We had always hoped to do a trilogy, now that we completed that trilogy it’s kind of open, if people can join us and go back in time - and then leap forward, I’d like to go jump all across the time line.”
It makes perfect sense for Underworld to move to television as all the ingredients are there. The three films stand as a complete trilogy on their own merit but due to the different time setting in all of them, there is masses of scope to travel back and forth and have separate stories running through the series.
If Sex and The City can go from the small to the big screen (somehow) then Underworld can go the other way.

Hey Dave,
it’s actually Rhona Mitra in the film (and image) and not Beckinsale, she doesn’t appear in this one. Not that it matters, Mitra is awesome in the film.
It’s well worth seeing particularly if you want the back story as to how the war between vampire and lycan started.
The TV show would be awesome, especially if Mitra were involved in some way, which is highly unlikely.
