Uma Thurman Talks ‘Kill Bill 3’

Kill Bill Uma Thurman

I’ve waxed lyrical on Quentin Tarantino enough in the past for most people to know he’s one of my favorite directors. And one of the reasons I love him is his willingness to squeeze everything out of an idea or project. This is a man who doesn’t leave stones unturned.

But even I was surprised when, at the beginning of October, he seemed to suggest that Kill Bill 3 was on its way. I truly thought that project was dead, with the two volumes we’ve already had closing the chapter on those characters. But it seems not.

Now comes confirmation of the fact that Tarantino is at least throwing ideas around about a third Kill Bill film. And it comes courtesy of The Bride herself, Uma Thurman, who a sequel would surely be built around again. She told MTV Movies:

We did chat, we did chat. He has not yet finished the script. I don’t even really know if he’s really started it, although I got a taste of some of his ideas and they are really good. He has started to share with me what he was thinking, and it’s awesome.”

I don’t think Tarantino will have even started a script but he’d likely to have all manner of ideas floating around in his head waiting to be transferred to celluloid. And it looks as though Kill Bill 3 is now a matter of when rather than if.

A prequel would seem to out of the question following the death of David Carradine so Kill Bill 3 is likely to be set after Thurman’s character and her daughter walked off into the sunset to start a new life. The possibilities are numerous.

And the all-important question of whether Thurman would be interested in reprising the role elicited a, “Yeah, I think it’d be fun!” response which is very clear. Bring it on.
