Well, we haven’t heard yet whether Robert Redford has actually signed on to “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” but we do have another piece of casting news for that movie. Latino Review says that UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre has joined the cast of the Captain America sequel.
St. Pierre will play the villain Batroc. ComingSoon says that Batroc does not have any power beyond his “mastery of martial arts.” In addition to battling Captain America, Batroc has also been a bad guy in other corners of the Marvel universe.
This won’t be St. Pierre’s first movie–he’s been in “Death Warrior” and “Never Surrender.” St. Pierre won his last fight on March 16th, with a unanimous decision against Nick Diaz.
“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” stars Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Scarlett Johansson, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp, Hayley Atwell, and Maximiliano Hernández. Joe and Anthony Russo direct. It’s set for an April 4, 2014.
