More's coming.
“Alex Cross” doesn’t open until Friday, but production company QED must be feeling very confident about its prospects–Deadline reports that they’re already putting together plans to film another of James Patterson’s Alex Cross books, “Double Cross.” Tyler Perry would return as Cross.
I don’t know if anyone knows what to expect at the box office for “Alex Cross.” On one hand, there’s fear that fans of Perry’s broad Madea comedies won’t turn out for this movie; on the other, there’s fear that people who disdain Perry’s broad Madea comedies won’t come either. But I guess QED is getting some information that tells them it will be a big enough hit to justify a sequel.
Here’s the summary of “Double Cross”:
“Just when Alex Cross’s life is calming down, he is drawn back into the game to confront a criminal mastermind like no other. The elaborate murders that have stunned Washington, DC, are the wildest that Alex Cross and his new girlfriend, Detective Brianna Stone, have ever seen. This maniac adores an audience, and stages his killings as spectacles in public settings. Alex is pursuing a genius of terror who has the whole city on edge as it waits for his next move. And the killer loves the attention, no doubt–he even sets up his own Web site and live video feed to trumpet his madness.”
Oh, god, I hate serial killer movie and books. They’re so ridiculously contrived. But I’m the exception. Anyway, we’ll see the box office results on Monday and see if QED is making the right call.
