‘Twilight’ Stars Pay Rise For ‘New Moon’

There’s now no doubting the fact that Twilight has been a massive success. The book-to-film translation brought a wealth of fans out of the woodwork and managed to secure $70 million of takings at the box U.S. box office on its opening weekend. With releases around the world, and the obvious profits still to come from the likely DVD and Blu-ray sales, the future of the series is looking bright.
This bright future has had a few effects, already being felt throughout Hollywood. For starters, the next film in the four-book series has been confirmed, and a third, based on Eclipse, is also likely to be announced soon. The next movie will be based on New Moon, and will once again star Robert Pattinson as Edward and Kristen Stewart as Bella.
The pair of young actors will see a huge increase in their pay packets, with The Sun Times claiming their Twilight wages of $2 million apiece will be upped to $12 million each for New Moon. However, no news yet on whether director Catherine Hardwicke will be back behind the cameras for New Moon.
Lastly, the money-making success of Twilight has seen the movie studio behind it, Summit Entertainment, go up the chain in terms of Hollywood royalty. The turning of a low-budget ($37 million) film into such a great success has clearly made the bigger studios turn their heads towards the young pretenders.
