Twilight of the Indy?: Twilight Teaser Trailer Pushing Crystal Skull View Record

Edward Bella fit

Well, I like what she’s wearing.

Were you one of the millions of people who checked out the Twilight teaser trailer on MySpace? Well, if you watch it again you might be pushing it into rarified air–according to Anne Thompson’s blog at Variety, Twilight’s trailer was viewed about two million times in the first three days it was posted. Could it break the one week record of 4.1 million views pulled down the by the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull trailer in March?

Seems possible, if for no reason other than demographics. Look, Indy is brilliant (the character and Raiders that is–I have no clue about the new film), and no doubt there are many young people who are interested in the film either because there just is a lot of buzz around it, they became fans of the original on video, or they’re really into Shia LaBeouf. However, the core audience is of a demographic that doesn’t automatically run to the internet to check out movie trailers. The majority of Twilight fans, though, are exactly that group.

The Twilight trailer is supposed to run during ET tonight and also will be playing along with Speed Racer (which doesn’t seem like the right movie for Twilight, but whatever). But most of the book’s biggest fans will of course have already seen it.

While you’re here, though, watch it again–let the arguments and debates begin (or continue).
