Twilight News: More Werewolves for New Moon

New “New Moon” cast member Chaske Spencer.

Variety reports that Chaske Spencer, Bronson Pelletier, Alex Meraz, Kiowa Gordon and Tyson Houseman have joined the cast of “The Twilight Saga: New Moon.” Is that the official title now, with that “Saga” prefix-thingy added? I guess so. It seems weird and awkward.

Anyway, the new cast members are all Native American. Spencer is Lakota (Sioux), Pelletier is Cree-Metis, Meraz is Purepecha (Tarasco), Gordon is Hualapai and Houseman is Cree. They’ll all be part of the werewolf crew led by Jacob, played by Taylor Lautner. Werewolves come front and center in this part of the story, so welcome new cast members, you’re important.

“New Moon” is set to shoot any minute, or maybe it has already started, in order to get it out for a November 20th release date. When “Twilight” was shooting last year, it was a pretty small project, quietly out on its own in Oregon. Now it’s part of a huge, multi-million dollar movie franchise. Lots of fans showed up at the shoot last year, but it was still manageable and friendly enough for people to get up and fairly personal. I wonder if this time there will be swarms of fans, much more security, and trailers with the suddenly star cast hiding away as much as possible.
