It’s baaaack!
A large segment of the population is anxiously counting down the days until the November 20th release of “The Twilight Saga: New Moon.” But now take one day off your counting, Twilight addicts–Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the adaptations of Stephenie Meyers books, has announced that “Twilight,” the first film will get a one day re-release in theaters on November 19th. Variety reports that Summit got the idea from fans requesting another theatrical release and that some theaters may offer discounted ticket prices. The article does not say how many theaters will have the movie or how many showings are planned for the day (i.e., is it a one show leading up to a midnight “New Moon” screening, or will they run it all day?).
Sure, the movie has been out on DVD for months, but I’m sure many of the DVD owners would agree that it’s still more fun to gather up a group of friends and go see the movie on a big screen in a dark theater. It will be like a “New Moon” pre-party. Of course the best idea would be to re-release “Twilight” and have it shown as a double feature with “New Moon,” but that would cut into the number of “New Moon” showings a theater could fit in each day; theater owners could hope that a number of people would pay to see both movies, but they know that a lot (especially teens with limited funds) would have to put their money towards the new film only. Maybe next year before “Eclipse” comes out, they’ll have some double features of “Twilight/New Moon.”
