Twilight Deleted Scene

Some scenes work better than others.
In this post on Anne Thompsons Variety blog, you can see one of the deleted scenes that will appear on the “Twilight” DVD, which I’m sure you all know is coming out on March 21st. And after watching it, I have to say that I agree wholeheartedly with Ms. Thompson’s comment that “sometimes directors cut scenes from a movie for a reason.” Good lord, what on earth were they thinking? This is just awful. Not only does it not really move the plot forward, but it also takes a really, really long time to get out the minimal information that is in the scene. Worse, Stewart and Pattinson seem so unsure of their lines that I kept thinking that this was actually an outtake and they were going to start laughing or maybe one of them would fall over a tree branch, or something like that. You can’t even believe that this was a take that was actually going to be considered for the final film. Can we have a do-over on the best editing Oscar? I think Nancy Richardson, the editor of “Twilight” should have gotten the award just for taking out this scene.
Umm…anyway, I’m sure that for those of you who want to have all things “Twilight” related, and are happy just to see Robert Pattinson in any little bit of footage you can find, this scene will be a fine part of the DVD experience. Enjoy.
